Hypnotherapy for phobias and fears in Worksop

A phobia can feel much stronger than an ordinary dislike. The fear may arise around an animal, object, place, journey, medical procedure or particular situation. Even thinking about it can trigger anxiety, and avoiding it often brings immediate relief.

That relief can unintentionally strengthen the expectation that the situation is dangerous or impossible to manage. Hypnotherapy may be used as part of a practical plan to help you respond differently and discover what you are capable of handling.

A plan based on your particular fear

We will begin by identifying the exact trigger, what you expect to happen, the sensations you notice and the actions you usually take. We will also agree what meaningful improvement would look like for you. The goal is personal: it may be travelling more freely, entering a particular place, attending an appointment or simply feeling less controlled by avoidance.

Hypnotherapy may help you work towards

Feeling calmer when thinking about the feared situation

Reducing automatic fear responses

Rehearsing a steadier and more confident response

Taking small, manageable steps rather than avoiding completely

Recognising the difference between what you predicted and what actually happened

Building confidence from real experiences of coping

What happens during a session?

After discussing the fear and your goals, I will explain hypnosis and guide you into a state of focused attention and relaxation. You remain aware and in control. Suggestions and imagery can then be tailored to the situation you want to approach more confidently.
Where appropriate, we may also agree gradual real-life practice between sessions. Nothing is forced, and any step should be safe, proportionate and manageable. The number of sessions required varies according to the person and the nature of the fear.

Common reasons people enquire

Hypnotherapy is complementary support and does not replace medical or psychological assessment or treatment when that is needed.
